Humber Bridge Half Marathon

The Rotary Club of Hull are delighted to announce that the rights to stage the annual Humber Bridge Half Marathon Event have been acquired by the local company LKR Events. The Rotary Club have been unable to stage the event in the last two years, due to Covid 19, and the only feasible option to stage an event in June this year was for the rights to the event to be transferred to another event provider. The decision was also made to guarantee the longevity of this local annual event.

Since the inception of the event in 1999 the principle aim of the half marathon and fun run has been to raise money for charity but equally to organise a running event, which met the highest standards. The half marathon has previously been voted as one of the top events in the UK and has become a big draw for runners on a course which includes the iconic Humber Bridge. The communities of Hessle and Barton-on-Humber have always given their enthusiastic support on the day.

In its 22 year history the event has raised over seven hundred thousand pounds for donation to Rotary selected charities and in excess of possibly two million pounds, for charities selected by individual runners for their own personal charities. It cannot be underestimated what a success story the event has been for competitors in achieving their personal goals and ambitions in running, those just taking part and money raised for charity.

The Rotary Club of Hull would like to thank our event partners who have supported us over many years, the Rotary Club of Barton-on- Humber and the HEY Smile Foundation. Also the Humber Bridge Board, management and staff for all their assistance.

In meeting essential costs, sponsorship has been vital, and the Club wishes to thank all sponsors who have been generous in so many ways, plus all the event service providers. It goes without saying that to organise an event of this magnitude is not achieved without a multitude of volunteers. Thank you to all of those volunteers who have carried out their roles year on year, LKR Events would like to hear from you.

The Rotary Club of Hull firmly believe that LKR Events share the same principles in staging the event in the future and wish Lucas Meagor and colleagues every success. Thank you everyone.
